Video: Björk - “Crystalline” (Directed by Michel Gondry)

The result of what was once dubbed a “scientific musical” by Björk with longtime collaborator/auteur Michel Gondry has finally hit the web: “Crystalline,” the first single off the Icelandic singer’s new album, Biophilia, now has a brilliant Gondry-directed video, featuring colorful stop-motion animation with projections of Björk singing on a moon and dancing in a bubble on another planet. Not surprisingly, this is one of the best music videos I’ve seen this year.

Yes yes yes! Gondry never ceases to amaze.

Flaws

tariqrahman:

The painful truth about capitalism and communism is that both ideologies share the same fundamental flaw; they both want to tell the rest of the world what’s best for them.  Same with “Islamism” and frankly every other “ism” that’s out there.  When will an ideology come along that doesn’t try to fit all of the different shapes and sizes of the world into the same square hole?  Perhaps it won’t be an ideology at all, but rather what’s left once all the ideology has disappeared.

Capitalism manages to hide this truth under the guise of choice. Naming freedom as choice is akin to calling prison college.

Not only are these magnificent in concept; organic and soothing to the ear; but they are also visually stunning.

Really digging Joe Fenton’s work. It’s like a combination of some of my favorite artists (Dali, Mobius, R. Crumb) mix with super ornate frames and a buddhism/hindi twist.
