App Idea

A location based graffiti app where you tag locations to get your name up. Pinpointed to gps coordinates so you can have unique spots within a single location.

Each user would design their tag. Then using augmented reality they would affix their tag image on something in the environment.

Everyones Tags would show up in all users augmented reality allowing for tags to be crossed out, buffed, or covered up. Only owners of locations and appointed squads will have the ability to buff. Cover ups can only be done by those with cred (those with higher scores).

The longer your tag stays up (or burns) the more points you earn.
Points are lost for crossing out, so you must choose to lose in order to gain the spot but be warned as it could create competition.

Tag upgrades become available after a certain number of points(called props) are earned. Upgrades like multi colors so throw-ups or pieces can be made or import your own art. (tags would originally be drawn in app)

Earn titles/badges like all-city, king of the block, etc. Everyone starts out as a toy.

Naturally it would integrate with social media for sharing.

Sounds fun. If you’re an app dev who is interested in helping develop this idea I’d love to talk. Email me!

New Tom Waits: ‘Back in the Crowd’

The great Tom Waits shared a second taste from his forthcoming album, Bad As Me, today, switching gears from the title track’s funk-stomp pace with a hushed, slow-burning ballad called “Back in the Crowd.” On his site, Waits described the song, which is beautifully woven together with Latin 8-string Jarana by Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo, as “an old fashioned jukebox tune for a slow dance with your girl (or guy).” You can preview the crooning cut above and download an MP3 on iTunes.

True or False: Positivity

Positivity is not the assumption that everything will be great. It is the courage to face the unknown with the strength to make the best of it regardless.

Life is a lot like driving. As we drive to our destinations, we look ahead to avoid obstacles in the way. If we only look in the rear view mirror, we crash. It’s best to enjoy the song playing on the stereo at that moment while peering into the near future. Remember who is driving.
