Love this stop motion short from Spike Jonze. The felt-made book covers are fantastic.
Video: Spike Jonze’s Mourir Auprès de Toi
The latest short film from Spike Jonze — following last year’s Nick Zinner-assisted robot love story, I’m Here, and this year’s Arcade Fire collaboration, Scenes From the Suburbs — arrived today in the form of Mourir Auprès de Toi (To Die By Your Side), a stop-motion tale of characters from canonized books coming to life in Paris’ famed Shakespeare & Company bookshop. The quirky tragicomedy stars Jonze himself, voicing the skeleton of Macbeth, and French singer/actress SoKo as Mina Harker from Bram Stoker’s Dracula, brought to life through 3,000 hand-cut pieces of felt crafted by handbag designer Olympia Le-Tan. Co-directed by Simon Cahn, the love story closes with a catchy tune sung by SoKo (sounding eerily similar to Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are collaborator Karen O), whose long-awaited debut LP just got pushed back to February. Check out the animated felt flick above.
Stoic philosophers referred to this as the mutual entailment of the virtues. No virtue, they argued, is a virtue by itself. Even the noblest virtues, standing alone, have their limits.
Honesty in the absence of compassion becomes cruelty. Tenacity unmediated by flexibility congeals into rigidity. Courage without prudence is recklessness.

Love this excerpt. Personally have experienced the truth of these words recently. With compassion increasing, my honesty has become a far greater asset.

I love this answer from the Reddit AMA with Neil deGrasse Tyson:
What is your favorite fact about the Universe?
That is will never end. That it’s on a one way trip of expansion. Something that many find to be philosophically unsettling. My view is that if your philosophy is not unsettled daily then you are blind to all the universe has to offer.
A few questions and answers from the excellent thread on Reddit:What is your favorite short science fact you like to tell people to really make them think?
That our bodies’ atoms are traceable to supernova stars that scattered their chemical enrichment across the cosmos, spawning the birth…
Sound sketching with the iMaschine app. Came up with this chorus and drums. Made on the fly with no true intention. Nice start for an R&B-influenced direction I’m thinking of pursuing more.
So you’re a philosopher? Yes, ye-yes ye-ye-ye-ye-yes. I think very deeply.
